I had a great conversation with a long-time friend earlier tonight. We shared stories and there are some that overlap. Seems both of us placed our ladder against the wrong wall for too many years.
No, I am not speaking of ministry position or organization. I am speaking of ministry attitude. You see, the "wall" was one of identity. Where do you get your approval? Is it in achievement, or does it come from God?
I have blogged on this in the past. Let me ask you: Does your fulfillment come from who you are in Christ or from what you do for Christ? There is fulfillment in what we do. There should be. But if we cannot find peace with God in the fact that his love is unconditional and sustaining, ministry will be dull and eventually we burn out. Could it be that burn out is little more than misplaced focus? Think about it. More later.
